...good teachers are priceless. They inspire you, they entertain you, and you end up learning a lot even when you don't know it.

Snow...... in the South?

Every time there is even mention of snow around here people flip out, run to the grocery store to stock up on bread, bottled water, and milk. Of course, this time was no exception. Wednesday night, the grocery stores were packed and Thursday morning, I woke up to only a light dusting. As the day went on, the snow did accumulate to around an inch, but by no means was it a blizzard.

However, this did not stop us from enjoying it!!!

I should mention that I grew up in Central Iowa. Maybe that is why I do not view the rare "snow storm" here in Northern Mississippi as a crisis. The schools closed so I took the opportunity to take a few pictures outside, then curled up with a good book. I love snow days! (: I am just extremely thankful the snow days happened before student teaching started! Only four more days now. Wow, this count down seems like it has been going on forever now. Nonetheless, it will be here before we know it ladies!

Stay Blessed Everyone!

A Little Family Time

Fun Old Fashioned Family Christmas

WOW! I can't believe Christmas has come and gone already! It seems that, the older I get, the faster time goes by. The thing I love about Christmas is that it is one of the few times that all of my family is together. Don't get me wrong, I see most of them quite often, it's just that the holidays is when we are all together at once. My parents have recently moved to South Carolina, about eight hours from where I live. I see them three to four times a year, but I would love to have them closer to home.

This was the first visit that my parents have stayed with my husband and me. They arrived on December 23rd with their two yorkie puppies in tow. I have a one year old dachshund, Leo (see profile picture) that LOVES to play with Winston and Bentley. I have always been a bit of a neat freak, but I realized just how bad it was as I went around the house scrubbing the window sills to be sure that everything was clean. My husband did quite a bit of yard work too. He spent four hours cutting down over-grown bushes, which resulted in hauling three truck loads of branches to the dump.

Anyways, on to internship talk. We are T-minus 13 days until the internship officially begins. I have to go to school for orientation on January 11th, then I visit my second placement classroom on January 12th half of the day and meet with my supervising professor the second half, finally: I begin my first placement on January 13th. I can feel my nerves go wild as I type those words. The only other time I have ever been this nervous was on my wedding day. (: I found myself taking advantage of the after-Christmas this weekend to buy "teacher clothes." I suppose this should be where this blog ends, I'm about to start rambling.

Thank you for listening.
Stay Blessed (:

*Oh My, This is Real...*

Hello everyone out there in Cyberspace!

I decided to start this blog to record my thoughts and feelings throughout this journey known as INTERNSHIP.

I suppose I should begin by telling you all a little bit about me. My name is Kayla, I am 23 (one week from 24) years old, and I am under one month away from beginning my student teaching. I have been happily married to my husband for three years. I live in a small (very small) town in Northern Mississippi.

Today I received that long-awaited letter that held the names of two schools in which I would spend the next three months. I got up this morning and raced to the post office for this letter and I can't say that I was disappointed. Up until this point, student teaching has just been something we talked about, but never thought we would actually see.

However, the moment I opened that letter..... it all became real.

I found myself overcome with emotions: I was excited, nervous, and more than anything, I felt like I was going to throw up. It really hit me that I was an adult, one step closer to beginning a professional career. WOW. It seems like just yesterday that my bedroom was lime green with posters of Hanson plastering the walls.

So, with all that said, I hope that you all will join me on this journey. I have a feeling it will be a long three months, but we will make it.

K :)
